REalliance member the Community Composting Network has been awarded £264,641 funding by the Big Lottery Local Food Programme for a two and a half year project in England called “Community Composting for Local Food”.
The project aims to set up a training and support network with 12-15 training hubs and associated trainers who will be trained to deliver a doubly accredited (by LANTRA & the Chartered Institute of Waste Management) training course to local food growing groups so they too can start Community Composting. The training is followed up by further support, seminars at the hubs and the loan of equipment to get the groups up and started.
The project has a supportive Steering Group which includes people from Garden Organic, Permaculture Association, Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens, Black Environment Network, LCRN and AFoR; so we can reach beyond our own network.
CCN will shortly be recruiting the training hubs and is recruiting a trainer as part of the project.
